LIVE:
Africanias @ Teatros UERJ (Maracanã) – Africanias is a unique chamber music recital followed by a lecture on African influence on Brazilian classical music.

This evening seeks to demonstrate the presence of elements of African musicality in Brazilian classical music. The realization of this Recital-Lecture is an action of the Africanias research group of the PPGM (Graduate Program in Music) of UFRJ, which counts on the participation of researchers from different areas and institutions, and proposes the understanding of the African presence in the various genres of Brazilian music.

With the guidance of teachers Andrea Adour and Jonas Maia, the students of the Bachelor of Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the FAETEC technical course interpret pieces for singing and piano by Brazilian concert music composers, which highlight the presence of the African legacy in Brazilian culture. This presentation will feature the special participation of guitarist Fábio Adour and percussionist Eduardo Lyra.

The concert starts at 7PM and it is free entry.
