Rio Nightlife Guide for Monday, June 4, 2018

The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Monday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Samba Tá com Tempo?! (Centro) – Bar do Nanam at Beco das Artes is one of the most exciting nightlife options at the moment. For those who haven’t been there it is an entire street that in the evening is brought to life by musical performance, dancing and a spirit of fun.

This Monday, Bar do Nanam, one of the most faithful establishments of the street, will be hosting an evening of Samba. ‘A heavyweight team meets through the samba verve, to spread the joy of sounds and encounters.’ is roughly how they describe themselves.

Samba Tá com Tempo?! is an evening where new and seasoned samba musicians come to revel in the spirit of the music for its own sake. Expect plenty of spontaneity, participation and joie de vivre.

The location can be hard to find if it’s your first time, however the host gives helpful directions: Bar do Nanam ‘near the Tiradentes square, in the Rua Imperatriz Leopoldina, on the corner with Luís de Camões.’ However, they stress, ‘If you are curious, just come!’

COMEDY:
Funny Stories and Comedy (Copacabana) – What better way to start the week than with some live comedy?

Back by popular demand, Rio Night Live are hosting an evening of funny stories and stand-up comedy at legendary Bossanova club, Beco das Garrafas.

Expect a mixture of Brazilian and international performers, including Julia Michaels, Craig Grinham, Amitov, Lui Boniface, Pedro Bastos, Jon Jonz and Bindu.

Guests are asked kindly to arrive 10 mins before the 8PM start time so that they can start at 8PM on the dot. Tickets are R$20,00 with only cash being accepted at the front desk. For more information, view the event page.

EXHIBITION:
Jazzeiro por Cazé (Leblon) – Another gentle way to ease yourself back into the week after the holiday weekend: Jazzeiro is an art exhibition hosted by the artist Cazé at one of the best craft beer spots in town, Jeffrey in Leblon.

Inspired by the sounds of jazz, Cazé is exhibiting a host of works that take inspiration from the most colorful and chromatic of musical forms. While Jeffrey will of course be serving its inspired and varied craft beer.

This is the first night of the exhibition, opening at 5PM-8PM, but expect plenty of time to relax, chat and enjoy the ample range of beers on offer. The artist will be there to discuss his work and exchange ideas over a drink. Perhaps there will even be a few musical surprises too.
