Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – November 20th is Dia da Consciência Negra (Black Awareness Day) and many venues in Rio de Janeiro are celebrating this weekend.
Imperator – Centro Cultural João Nogueira in Méier in the city’s Zona Norte (North Zone) will celebrate throughout the weekend by hosting live performances, exhibitions, and children’s activities today, tomorrow and Sunday.
Events today will include Wilson Jequitibá telling African children stories at 10:30 AM; a turban workshop from 4:30PM to 6PM; a jongo workshop and roda de samba from 6PM to 8PM; and a live performance by Magareth Menzes. All events are free with the exception of the performance which is R$30 – R$60.

It’s time again for Lapafest at Leviano bar tonight.
