PARTY:
Pré-Carnaval da Ladeira @ Casarão Floresta (Cosme Velho) – The build-up to Carnival is reaching fever pitch, and here is another huge pre-Carnival party to get everyone in the mood for March, with Bloco 442 and Charanga Talismã, plus plenty of other special guests and surprises.

This particular pre-Carnival party is taking place in the stunning surroundings of Casarão Floresta, with views of the Atlantic forest and Christ the Redeemer. Expect plenty of glitter and crazy costumes. DJ Mito and DJ Guigga Tomaz will be supplying the soundtrack to this magical evening.

Tickets are between R$10 – R$30 and the party kicks off at 10PM.

LIVE:
Teresa Cristina and Samba Que Elas Querem @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – This Friday, Circo Voador will present a great celebration of black music.

The singer Teresa Cristina and the group Samba Que Elas Querem will present, for the first time on stage, the acclaimed show ‘A Sorriso Negro’ (The Black Smile) which brings together a repertoire of classics from samba greats such as Dona Ivone Lara, Lecy Brandão, Jovelina Pérola Negra, Cartola, among other masters. Opening for them will be the the poetry slam masters of Slam das Minas.

Tickets are between R$40-R$100 and the night starts at 10PM.

PARTY:
Baile de Máscaras da Coordenadas @ Vivo Rio (Flamengo) – A pre-carnival edition that will bring Vivo Rio’s best street carnival to Rio de Janeiro.

For this special party they have invited two of the best Carioca ‘blocos’ (Carnival street parties): the incomparable Fogo e Paixão, with its playful repertoire of song and dance that encapsulates the spirit of Carnival, and Bloco Cru, which is one of the most rocking blocos in the city. There will also be music from Dodô Azevedo, playing the best of pop and rock along with Brazilian classics, and magician Luiz Ratón will be performing some unforgettable tricks on the night.

Tickets are between R$40 – R$80 and the night starts at 10PM.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
