Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The 2015 edition of Live Cinema festivial continues in Oi Futuro Ipanema with two filmmakers, Emílio Domingos and Simplicio Neto “remixing” their films live tonight.
Performing tonight as his alter egos “DJ Simpla da Dýnamo” and “VJ Simpla of PHUNK,” filmmaker and musician Simplicio Neto will re-edit and re-dub his award-winning film “Carioca era Um Rio” live while accompanied by his band, Os Nefelibatas.
Additionally during the event, director, DJ and social scientist Emílio Domingos will “remix,” his new documentary “Deixa na Régua,” live.
Best known for his award-winning documentary “A Batalha do Passinho,” about the passinho dance movement and its surrounding culture, Domingos takes an inside look at barber shops in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas in “Deixa na Régua.”
The 2015 edition of Live Cinema will continue through Suday, with German composer, musician, artist, engineer and programmer Robert Henke presenting his newest project “Lumière II” on Saturday, at Cine Odeon and holding a discussion of his creative process at Parque Lage on Sunday.

Festival Honk Rio 2015 (Botafogo)
The free Honk Rio 2015 festival continues today with its second day of four. The festival is one of the major international festivals of brass bands and it is taking place in Rio de Janeiro for the first time this week. Today and tonight, the event will take place at four locations; Hotel da Loucura, Praça da Harmonia, Leão Etíope do Méier, and Bola Preta. At Hotel da Loucura a workshop with RIM BAM BUM from Chile will start off the day at 11AM. Bands Ôncalo, Os Siderais, and RIM BAM BUM will follow with performances. Performing at Praça da Harmonia will be (in order from start to close) Fanfarra do Mal, BlocAto do Nada, Fanfarrada, Zambalo, Bagunço Móvel, Fanfarra Black Clube, Damas de Ferro, Ôncalo, and Ataque Brasil. Beginnng at 8:30PM, Hey Ho Brass Band will perform at Leão Etíope do Méier, followed by bands Pakitos Cuecacuela and Brassil Melody Band. Finally on the main stage of the festival in Bola Preta, the group Os Siderais will perform at 10:30PM, followed by Rim Bam Bum, Environmental Encroachment, and Mission Delirium.

Tonight the Eu Não Sou Surfista Mas Vivo party returns to the Praia Club with special guests MCs Koruja and K9 performing live. Additionally during the night, DJ De Luca will spin the best of trap. Tonight Quintavant Qtv will present a live performance by Brazilian singer-songwriter Ava Rocha at Sala Funarte Sidney Miller. Rocha recently released a new album entitled, Ava Patrya Yndia Yracema. The album’s tracks and arrangements blend guitars, strings, and various elements with Rocha unique voice, creating something unique. During tonight’s performance, Rocha will be joined by composer Negro Leo.

In celebration of the hit Netflix series ‘Orange is the New Black,’ Casa da Matriz will premiere its newest event, the Orange Party tonight. There will be themed decorations including phone booths, visitors stickers and an area for taking “mugshots” and during the event, the best of the shows will be projected on screens throughout the venue. DJs Millah Bass, Jess, and Ian Garcez will spin the best of pop, hits and hip hop on the first floor and DJs Dave Avigdor and Lis Amaral will spin the best of rock, indie, and pop rock on the second floor during the party.
