Rio News, Brazil NewsFriday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Satirizing Brazil’s current political context, Bar Bukowski will host the O Brazil Me Obriga a Beber (Brazil obliges me to drink) party from 6:30 PM.

To get the night started, Bukowski’s “drunk hour” offers double doses of caipivodka and great beer labels, like Red Stripe, Estrela Barcelona, Erdinger Sommerweiss and Karlsbrau.

As usual, the traditional garage karaoke with live band starts at 8PM, and the best singer wins a R$200 prize to be spent at the bar.

The AcaraJazz band presents in Rio’s Port Zone, mixing jazz to the best hits from Tropicália, a Brazilian musical movement from the 1970s, including compositions by Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and the Mutantes band.

The trendiest live jazz in Rio returns to The Maze, hostel run by British expat Bob Nadkarni, on the top of favela community Tavares Bastos. Latin rhythms, funk, soul and jazzare guaranteed in the set list.

Satirizing Brazil’s political context, Bar Bukowski will host the O Brasil Me Obriga a Beber (Brazil obliges me to drink) party from 9PM. Besides the happy hour, that starts at 6PM with double doses of capivoska and beer labels like Red Stripe, Estrela Barcelona, Erdinger Sommerweiss and Karlsbrau, the party includes the traditional garage karaoke, where you can sing followed by a live band.

Tonight, the Vai Dar Samba group presents a repertoire with great samba classics, while DJ Gabriel Set runs the dance floor in the intervals. Soups and snacks can be found at the bar’s kitchen.

It’s time again for Lapafest at Leviano bar tonight. Singer Mar César will start off the night on the first floor performing a roda de samba with well-known samba classics. DJs Aílton Area and Ricardinho will be spinning the best of samba, funk, hip hop and electronic. The band Johnny’s will also be there performing the best tracks from the international rock scene.

Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Blue Agave Ipanema (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and the mostly English-speaking crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
