pedra de sal

Monday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Pedra do Sal is considered to be one of the best “rodas de samba” in Rio today and for the past recent years. This Monday night staple has been thriving for years, attracting a variety of percussionists, musicians, dancers, samba lovers and all around party goers.

Situated at Largo João da Baiana in Centro, the venue is based around the very large rock or “pedra.” Many believe that samba parades and blocos started here long ago, hence the longtime commitment from attendees over the years. Whether you are a samba veteran or just a gringo visiting Rio, there is always an amazing energy and fire lit up under peoples’ feet at this longtime Rio event.
