Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick: The Gringo Café in Ipanema will host its increasingly popular Gringo Group Therapy night, co-sponsored this month by The American Society of Rio de Janeiro (AmSoc Rio) Happy Hour. The event’s theme will focus primarily on visas and setting up small businesses in Brazil, and of course two-for-one drinks!

NichtFein + Quero Causar (Botafogo)
As they say in the press release, one DJ is good, two is better, but eight is “FODA PRA CARALHO” (totally fucking crazy). From heavy bass to electronic grooves, the idea is to make you cause a scene before the night’s out.

Pagode da Arruda (Centro)
Pagoda da Arruda, a part of the cultural movement for the preservation of samba, was born in 2005, after five childhood friends, residents of Vila Isabel, decided to take the city by storm.

Palco Musa (Botafogo)
Don’t envision Saloon 79 as anything else other than Rio’s grungiest dive bar. That said, you will still have a ball listening to Brazilians play indie rock at Palco Musa with the band Ramirez celebrating their second album.
