Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight the Back2Black Festival returns to Fundação Cidade das Artes in Barra da Tijuca for the first of two nights of its sixth edition.
Two stages, the Palco Rio and the Palco Cidade, will host six shows tonight. On the Palco Rio stage, rapper Dughettu, rapper Karol Conká and the group Dream Team do Passinho with the group Bailarinos Kuduro will perform live and the Palco Cidade will host contemporary poet Linton Kwesi Johnson backed by the Dennis Bovell Dub Band, Planet Hemp, and Damian Marley.
Additional events tonight will include the debates “O Negro na Invenção do Rio” with musician Nei Lopes and writer and journalist Ruy Castro, and “O Kuduro e a linguagem das periferias” with musician Ângelo Kalaf of the group Buraka Som Sistema and author José Eduardo Agualusa.There will also be a screening of the film “I Love Kuduro.”

Ocupação ARTE SONORA events continue at Castelinho Do Flamengo in Flamengo tonight. Running for two months, through April 26th, the program features lives performances, DJs, artists, lectures and more on Wednesdays and Fridays. Tonight Saulo Laudares will perform at 7PM, Icaro Dos Santos will perform at 8PM, and André Amaral will perform at 9PM.

French singer-songwriter Isabelle Geffroy, better known by her stage name, Zaz, returns to Rio tonight to perform live at Circo Voador. Zaz is known for mixing jazz, soul and acoustic elements in her music and she has released three studio albums, to date.
