Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Rio de Janeiro is in for a real treat tonight as house music makes a real impression with a very special guest all the way from Paris, France. Hector Moralez has finally made it to the Cidade Maravilhosa for his first ever performance up the hill at the infamous Casa Alto Vidigal. This long time house legend will be joined by internationally known Brazilian house duo Anhanguera (Decio Deep and Dudu Palandre) as well as American transplant and Alto Vidigal resident Mike Frugaletti.

Hector’s character, hard work and innovative ability has given him a prominent standing in the house music scene, leading him to become one of the most sought after artists. Also forming the production phenomenon “Fries and Bridges” with occasional partner, Phil Weeks [Paris]. Releases from Hector have enhanced highly respected labels such as Robsoul, Music For Freaks, Nightshift, Detour, Vista, Brique Rouge, Doubledown and Lowdown Music. These popular works have lead to further demand with new releases due out throughout 2012 on Restricted Access, DJ Sneak Classics, Magnetic, Pacha Recordings. As well as managing and producing on his own distinguished underground labels, Minority Music & The Factory. 2013 also witnessed his highly anticipated debut album Lotus 7 with Chris Carrier, released on the amazing French imprint Apollonia.

Bloco Eu Amo Lapa pretty much says it all in the title. Lapa is the downtown neighborhood of Rio that is home to the true carioca lifestyle full of live music venues and some of the best samba in all of Brasil. Today, celebrate Carnival style.

Bloco: Badalo De Santa Teresa (Santa Teresa)
One of the most traditional group parades through the beautiful classic Santa Teresa neighborhood. The Badalo De Santa Teresa was founded a few days before Mardi Gras 1972 by Ernesto Sereno. Come enjoy this absolutely unique bairro of Rio de Janeiro.

Ensaios do Monobloco(Lapa)
Rio’s favorite percussion band Monobloco returns to Fundição Progresso for their annual Ensaio, kicking off the Carnival season in true Monobloco style. Expect to hear hits from their newest album “Arrastão da Alegria”.

We The Brand @ Alto Vidigal (Vidigal)
Rio de Janeiro is about to get taste of some REAL house music, some of the likes they have never seen before. House icon Hector Moralez is in town making his debut appearance up the hill at the infamous location of Alto Vidigal, situated at the very top of the Vidigal mountain looking over all of Rio. He is joined by house duo Anhanguera and American househead Mike Frugaletti. If you are a true lover of funky, jacking danceable music, you do not want to miss this one.
