fridayFriday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Bootie Rio returns to Fosfobox tonight with a special Carnival edition of the popular mashup party.

The club will celebrate four years of “ruining your favorite music” and present mashups, such as Jessie J vs. Ariana and Nicki, Valesca Popozuda vs. Gretchen and Kylie Minogue vs. MC Gabi.

Special guest DJ/VJ Videomash from Vitoria will rock the turntables, as well as the screens and will be joined by André Pipipi, Ale Messina and more.

Blocos (Various Locations)
Carnival 2015 has officially begun and the free street parties known as blocos are in full force. Today the Bloco das Carmelitas will get things started at 3PM in Santa Teresa. Their starting point will be in Rua Dias de Barros. Embaixadores Da Folia will rock Centro after work at 8PM at the same time as Rola Preguiçosa Tarda Mas Não Falha in Ipanema. Boêmios Da Lapa will stay at Pça. Cardeal Câmara (Arcos Da Lapa) from 8PM to midnight. It is important to note that meet-up points and locations of the bloco parades are subject to change.

Bootie Rio fantasia (Copacabana)
The Bootie party is back at Fosfobox with a special Carnival edition of the popular mashup party. The club will celebrate four years of “ruining your favorite music” with DJ/VJ Videomash from Vitoria, André Pipipi, Ale Messina and more.

Crush (Botafogo)

At 7:30 PM Marcos Novatto will get things started at Carioca da Gema. Leo Russo will follow at 9:30 PM. Finally at 11PM, singer Claudinho Guimarães will fill the venue with the sounds of lively samba.

Marcelle Mota and Bloco Picada da Primeira (Lapa)
Carnival starts early this Friday, with this party that starts at 3PM. Marcelle Mota and Johnys will play tonight and the roda de samba starts at 7PM and the Bloco Picada da Primeira at midnight.

This American-owned restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food and drinks. Additionally, every night Tony Boka is performing live from 8PM until midnight. Boka is known for his varied repertoire that always pleases the crowd.
