Since that time, her popularity continued to skyrocket as she released her debut album, No Mythologies to Follow in March of 2014; collaborated with the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea on the single “Beg for It”; and most recently provided vocals for the current massive international hit “Lean On,” which MØ also co-wrote and performs with Major Lazer, a side project of DJ and producer Diplo, and DJ Snake.

Additionally in her native country of Denmark, MØ took home the awards for “Breakthrough Artist of the year”, “Record of the Year”, “Solo Artist of the Year” and “Music Video of the Year” during the 2014 Danish Music Awards.

Born Karen Marie Ørsted in Odense, Denmark in 1988, she first entered the music scene as one half of the Danish feminist-punk duo, MOR. Formed with her friend Josefine Struckmann in 2007, MOR released two EPs before disbanding in 2012.

Following the breakup, Ørsted began working on solo tracks under her stage name, MØ, the name formed for her middle and last initials and also a word meaning “maiden” or “virgin” in Danish.

With influences that included everything from the Spice Girls to Sonic Youth, MØ released her debut single, “Glass,” in 2013, quickly following with the single “Pilgrim” and its B-side “Maiden.” She then worked with Swedish DJ Avicii, co-writing and providing lyrics for his single “Dear Boy.” Next she worked with Diplo on the track “XXX 88” and in October of 2013 released her debut EP, Bikini Daze.

When her debut full-length album, No Mythologies to Follow, came out in March of 2014, MØ had already built a name for herself and a following around the world. The release was well-received by critics and fans alike as it included dance floor ready tracks with catchy hooks as well as almost ethereal ballads.

Sacadura 154’s door will open at 10PM on Saturday night and DJs Cix & Yasmin, Leondre and Cadinho will spin following the show.
