Five Best Pre-New Year’s Eve Parties in Rio this Week

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – For those who want to make the most of the last days in 2017, Rio is the right place to be. Before 2018 arrives the city offers diverse options for all tastes leading up to Saturday, December 30th.

Getting started with a Rio’s New Year’s Eve warm-up, Clube Monte Líbano, in Leblon, promotes tonight, December 28th, the “All In” party, at 10PM. The event will bring groups Ferrugem, Imaginasamba and singer Vitinho to play live samba and pagode music, and singer Bruno Bonatto to present some sertanejo.

There will also be Brazilian funk with MC Pocahontas and DJ Felipe Rosa, and international hits with DJ Jeff Tavares. Tickets vary from R$50 to R$400.

Those feeling like a more alternative Pre-New Year’s party should check “Bloco do S”, event that will take place at the Fosfobox Club, in Copacabana, tomorrow, December 29th. Created by DJ Rodrigo S, the “Bloco do S” party is mainly dedicated to rhythms like soul, funk, jazz, Brazilian music, disco, house and rock.

Spinning on Fosfobox’ floor will be DJ Marky, considered the “#1 DJ in Brazil” by the RMC Awards 2012, and the “Personality in Brazil” by RMC Awards 2013; DJs Antco, Rodrigo S and Fabio Heinz. Resident DJs Bruno Pedrosa and Beranger will also run the pick ups. Tickets vary from R$10 to R$50.

On Saturday, December 30th, the “Se Revela Santinha” party will bring the best of Brazilian music to Mirante do Arvrão, in Vidigal, where one can appreciate one of the most breath-taking landscapes of Rio.

Starting at 10PM, the event invites groups Nosso Visual and Sambinha TOP to perform on its stage, entertaining the audience with the best of pagode and samba. DJs Marlon and Luke will spin Brazilian funk, sertanejo, pop, among other genres. The entrance goes from R$30 to R$45.

Another great option to celebrate and appreciate an amazing view of Rio from the top is the “Last Night” party, which will happen at the stunning Morro da Urca – the first hill of the Sugar Loaf monument.

The event will gather nine great DJs to make everyone dance from 10PM to 4:30 AM, including names like Sany Pitbull, João Brasil and TheBlackHauss. What’s more, there will be a premium open bar until 11:30 PM with imported vodka, beer and cachaça Santa Dose. Tickets are available for R$250.

The “Pré-Reveillon da Mangueira” is the perfect celebration for the ones into a traditional samba atmosphere. The party takes place at the headquarters of Mangueira, one of the oldest and most respected samba schools in Rio.

Starting at 10PM, the powerful performance of Mangueira’s musicians is the perfect program to close 2017 in style. The entrance costs R$40.
