New Anderson Thives Exhibition Portrays Everyday Life of Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The talented and passionate visual artist Anderson Thives is once again in the limelight with his new exhibition: RIO or Oneiric Interpersonal Relations, which portrays dreamlike scenes from everyday life in Rio, extolling the beauty of the city, life as a performance, the aestheticization of the body, and the struggles of human identity.

This connection between two or more people in the same circle, which can be family, professional, friendship, among neighbors, and much more, reflects the way individuals deal with each other and relate, as well as the quality of these relationships.

The oneiric present in the scenes makes reference to what the characters, interacting or not, could be dreaming, concerning their fantasies that do not belong to the so-called “real world.” Some nudes and diagrammatic games to expose the however subtle, and therefore more substantial ambiguities of the individual.

In all works, located in Rio de Janeiro‘s tourist spots, always represented by two people who together seem to be in the same scene, but who, in isolation, are unique, the artist addresses the complexity of today’s human relationship, particularly in a city as intense as Rio de Janeiro.

Were they themselves interacting? Or has the lack of contact in such a technological era made them indifferent to each other, at that moment of interaction and the fact that in all works there is someone you do not see completely, it would also mean that we do not know anyone entirely and that no one shows that they are what they really are in a kind of human dilution, in the absence of limits in the connection with the whole?

Questions from the modern world portrayed in ten works that together form a large panel that seems to be one thing, but that separately show their uniqueness. The children of Ipanema, The girls of Flamengo, The strangers of Lapa, The neighbors of Copacabana, among others, are on display, but they are all from our great and much-loved “Rio”.
