Brazil’s first pet-welcoming beach kiosk to be inaugurated today in Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In an unprecedented partnership, Orla Rio, the concessionaire responsible for managing 309 kiosks in the region from Leme to Pontal, Coveli, a Brazilian pet products manufacturer, and American Pet will inaugurate Célia’s Kiosk this Sunday, September 19.

Created to welcome families and their pets, the space will be the first kiosk in Brazil with a pet park structure. Aiming to include the furry ones in the leisure outside the home, the place will have 50 square meters of fenced open space and will provide interaction and games among dogs.

The kiosk and the pet park are located next to a gas station in Barra da Tijuca. The kiosk and pet park will be free to use and open from 8 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 10 PM.

There will also be coexistence rules such as: keeping the gate permanently closed – for better security, only animals accompanied by their tutor are allowed in the space, all dogs must be accompanied by an adult on-site, no food will be allowed inside the area, wild dogs will not be permitted.

“We have been in the pet market for 52 years and were born in Rio de Janeiro. We have in our DNA to innovate, bringing new products, initiatives. When we received this proposal from Orla Rio, we immediately agreed because it fits perfectly with our ideals”, says Sergio Dias, CEO of Coveli.

Another partner that also contributed to the project and inauguration of the space is American Pet, a pet shop chain from Rio de Janeiro with more than 40 stores throughout the state.

“We are the leading chain of pet shops, always seeking to provide the best experience. What brought us here and will take us further is the care and love for pets, a detail that only a pet lover can offer,” says Brunno França, commercial director of American Pet.

Célia’s kiosk will also receive the pet-friendly seal, granted by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Supply of the State of Rio de Janeiro, which indicates the appropriate places to receive pets.

In all, there are already more than a thousand accredited establishments throughout the state. In addition to the label, the project also has the support of the Municipal Environment Secretariat and the Subprefecture of Barra da Tijuca.

“We always try to bring new initiatives to the Cariocas. La Carioca, in Leblon, has just received the Lixo Zero certificate; we are inaugurating the Quiosque da Célia with a pet park with a pet-friendly seal through unprecedented partnerships. Our passion is to bring new proposals and novelties to Cariocas and tourists. After all, Rio is at the forefront of the beach world,” says João Marcello Barreto, president of Orla Rio.

Besides Célia’s Kiosk, with its pioneering initiative, ten other kiosks in Orla Rio are yet to receive the pet-friendly seal and install ten unique drinking fountains for pets this Sunday.
