RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil’s industrial output fell 1.4 percent in January-September against the same period of last year, statistics agency IBGE announced on Friday, November 1st.
However, in September, industrial production was up 0.3 percent over August. And in the third quarter, Brazil’s industrial output was up 0.4 percent from the previous quarter.
In September, the output of capital goods fell 0.5 percent over August, while the production of intermediate products was up 0.2 percent, and that of durable goods was up 1.3 percent.
In comparison with September of last year, the production of all three categories registered a rise, of 0.7 percent, 0.1 percent, and 3.2 percent, respectively.
In the first nine months of this year, the production of capital goods and durable goods registered a rise of 0.7 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively, and the production of intermediate goods was down 2.4 percent.
