RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – AM Authority says the next-generation Chevrolet Onix will be developed in Brazil. A new rendition of the Chevrolet Onix would be heading to the Chinese market soon.
This choice makes sense, as the Chevrolet Onix is already available in the Latin American region. The Onix is Chevrolet’s best-selling car in South America.
The next generation of the Chevrolet Onix will utilize Chevrolet’s Global Emerging Markets architecture, abbreviated GEM for short.
GM Brazil will develop Chevrolet cars that utilize the GEM platform. GM decided to settle on Brazil to develop Chevy cars with GEM platforms due to its previous success in producing compact vehicles in the South American country.
The second-generation Chevrolet Onix’s release in China will be the model’s first expansion beyond the Latin American region.
The vehicle will launch in South America during the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the model is expected to be released in China around the same time.
