Anantara chose Brazil as location for their first luxury resort in Latin America

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced the upcoming addition of a new resort in Brazil. Featuring a modern, sustainable design focused on the site’s natural beauty, the launch of Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort will represent the luxury brand’s debut in Brazil and South America.

The property will be located in Baixio, a district on the northern coast of Bahia, approximately 150 km from the state capital of Salvador.

Known for its crystal-clear lagoons, the small fishing village has a setting that inspires tranquility and is one of the most sought-after destinations on the region’s coastline all year round.

The ocean and one of Brazil’s largest protected Restinga reserves will serve as the backdrop for Anantara Mamucabo, extending over a 500,000 square meter site.

The construction of the new property will begin in 2023, with an expected opening in 2025.

Anantara Mamucabo will offer 116 rooms, suites, and pool villas, ranging in size from 70 to 163 square meters. The resort’s innovative and unique architecture and interior design are being designed by Sidney Quintela Architecture + Urban Planning, with landscaping by Alex Hanazaki, considered one of Brazil’s most creative landscape architects.

Leisure areas will be spread across the resort’s vast grounds and include three restaurants, two outdoor pools, a beach club, and water sports area, a kids club, and an area for babies and toddlers. The main pool will have a multi-level “waterfall” design, creating different environments to relax and enjoy the water.

At the beach club, a restaurant and bar will serve regional cuisine from Bahia, while the hotel’s main restaurant will offer contemporary international and Brazilian cuisine overlooking the entire property. An Asian restaurant will be located in the resort’s central area, with stunning views of the Mamucabo River that gives the resort its name.

Additional facilities at the resort will include a large sports area containing a tennis court and a paddle tennis court, a well-equipped gym, a yoga terrace, and a relaxation area. Children’s entertainment will be provided by a children’s club, including a dedicated play area in a large green, wooded area.

With a design that complements the tranquil nature of the area, the resort will feature an Anantara Spa focused on body and mind health, offering a wide range of wellness treatments. Integrated and secluded environments such as swimming pools, massage rooms, saunas, and hydrotherapy circuits will promote total relaxation.

For corporate and social events, adaptable spaces with state-of-the-art facilities will allow for meetings of various sizes. Social events such as weddings, cocktail parties, and end-of-year parties can be held next to the beach club, with an incredible ocean view.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, the parent company of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, and CEO of the Minor International Group commented, “We are excited to announce the development of this future Anantara in Brazil, which will represent the brand’s debut on the South American continent. It is a part of the world where we have been keen to expand the Anantara identity, and this exciting project represents the perfect opportunity.”

Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort will be a true haven for nature lovers in an enchanting region of Brazil, on the northern coast of Bahia. It will join the brand’s collection of luxury hotels and resorts that offer guests authentic experiences in some of the world’s most exciting destinations.
