Opinion: Lula’s PT party ended with Petrobras’ autonomy

By Alexandre Garcia*

(Opinion) Today’s big news is the new price of gasoline and diesel, which should drop 12%, and cooking gas, which could drop 21%.

Let’s see if Petrobras’ accounts will stand up to this.

Of course, as a fuel payer, I am satisfied.

Still, I don’t know if this keeps our state-owned company afloat, which started to turn a profit after it entered the technical evaluation without political interference from the government.

Now, it seems that the autonomy of Petrobras has gone to the dogs.

To begin with, a Workers Party (PT) senator whose term had just ended was nominated to the presidency of Petrobras.

Therefore, he is there to exercise the policy of the PT government inside the state-owned company.

What a danger!

And I don’t say that making up history because I saw it; we all saw what happened during the Lava Jato investigations.

But Jean Paul Prates, the president of Petrobras, has already been called by Senator Alessandro Vieira (PSDB-SE) to explain how this will work.

We are disconnected from international parity.

The buyers of Petrobras shares liked it; they went for it, and demand forced a 5% rise.

It is worth remembering that 36% of the shares are held by the government, 21% by American funds, and some 750,000 Brazilian shareholders.

What we are seeing is that Petrobras’ autonomy is gone.

In the Bolsonaro government, there was the biggest discussion about keeping Petrobras’ autonomy, and that is what happened. Now it is gone.

As in Dilma’s time, when prices were political, demagogic, populist politics.

And this can also be a ploy to force the Central Bank to lower the Selic because with cheaper fuel, inflation will fall, and then what will the Central Bank say?

And we also have those who invested in fixed income. If interest rates change, the expectation of fixed income changes, so all this is at stake.

TRF4 REVERSES THE DECISION OF THE NEW LAVA JATO JUDGE

The Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region in Porto Alegre, which is a second instance reviewing court, has canceled a decision by Curitiba judge Eduardo Appio, who replaced Sergio Moro and relieved Sergio Cabral in 14 years and two months, on the grounds that Moro had given the sentence and that he was suspicious.

What is Sergio Moro’s suspicion? Having talked with Deltan Dallagnol?

Have you ever seen a judge who doesn’t talk with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and with defense lawyers? Here every judge talks, and there is a need for this; it is obvious.

This was the “sin” of Moro and Dallagnol. But Judge Thompson Flores didn’t fall for it.

After all, Cabral is condemned to 400 years, but he is free – he is freer than Anderson Torres, who is condemned to zero years and has no convictions.

This is Brazil today, very, very strange.

LULA SPENDS MILLIONS ON HIS CREDIT CARD, BUT THE PROBLEM IS BOLSONARO’S R$8,600

Another weirdness is discussing these R$ 8,600 in the accounts of Bolsonaro and his wife, paid in cash, in the bank, by the orderly.

It is the obligation of every aide-de-camp in the world; the position exists for this, to solve the presidential problems.

The credit card, Bolsonaro’s card, was not even released; he never unblocked it; the corporate card, yes, of the Presidency of the Republic, which pays for jet fuel, the food on trips abroad – by the way, Bolsonaro’s food is pizza and Coca-Cola.

To reduce the electricity bill, he cut the swimming pool’s heating and ordered the palace lights to be turned off.

Barracks live sparingly, and yet they are making noise.

President Lula’s corporate card has already reached R$12 million in four months alone.

In his first government, it was R$59 million; in his second, R$48 million.

In Dilma’s first government, another R$42 million.

So, it is all propaganda. Everyone is talking about fake news, wanting to stop fake news.

Because fake news is the deceitful propaganda we have always known, made by choosing you as the victim, as the naive one, counting on you to believe it.
