Opinion: Pentagon opines on politics and celebrates Tucker Carlson being taken off the air

(Opinion) Pentagon officials are celebrating the departure of Fox News’ most popular host, Tucker Carlson, who frequently aimed at Biden’s Department of Defense (DoD) for destroying the military with his diversity policies, meddling in the war in Ukraine, and the introduction of critical race theory into the military curriculum.

“We’re a better country without him attacking our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people,” a senior Defense Department official told Politico, speaking anonymously.

“Carlson made a mockery of the free press and repeatedly cherry-picked Department policies and used them to destroy the Pentagon as an institution,” added the person quoted, who asked the Democratic outlet not to use his name.

Although he did not give his name in the interview, multiple sources assure that it’s General Mark Milley, a full-fledged Democratic activist who has made no secret of his sympathy for Black Lives Matter, the Chinese Communist Party, and the Communist Manifesto.

Milley, who serves as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had sent a letter to the other generals in January 2021 saying, “If Donald Trump refuses to leave office, the US Armed Forces must remove him by force, and you must give that order.”

When news of this letter surfaced in July of that year, Carlson devoted an entire program to him, calling for his immediate resignation for subversion.

“Why is that crazy pro-green Mark Milley still in command of the US Army? He wants to take us to a military dictatorship like any banana republic?” he said on his program at the time.

The tension between the cable broadcaster and Pentagon leadership is not new.

Carlson drew the ire of senior Defense Department officials early in the Biden administration for personal attacks on several military leaders, in addition to ridiculing the military’s progressive efforts to increase diversity in its ranks.

Most memorable from this confrontation were also Carlson’s comments in March 2021, when newly inaugurated President Joe Biden announced new efforts to recruit and keep women in the service, including the design of new body armor, updated hairstyle requirements, permission to go into combat while pregnant, and nominations of a trans general as Secretary of Health.

“So, we have new hairstyles and maternity flight suits.”

“Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It makes a mockery of the US military,” Carlson said sharply.
