Residents of the LPR, DPR and Kherson region called for an early referendum on joining Russia

The public chambers of the LPR and the DPR appealed to the heads of the republics, Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin, with the initiative to immediately hold a referendum on joining Russia.

In turn, the deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousov also spoke about similar requests of residents.

According to him, the referendum will not become the endpoint, and the population wants to get guarantees of the region’s entry into Russia.

Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Donetsk People’s Republic Oleksandr Kofman said that now is the time to “erase the non-existent border between our states.”

He also stressed the importance of the Russian border between the DPR and Ukraine.

He said that the appeal would be immediately sent to the head of the DPR and the People’s Council.

The Civic Chamber of the Lugansk People’s Republic noted that joining Russia will not only be a triumph of historical justice but will also protect its territory.

According to the head of the chamber Alexey Karjakin, the local population believes there will be stability after the referendum.

At the same time, he stressed that the referendum is “not a matter of one day”, so it is premature to talk about the date of its holding.

Later, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, discussed with his colleague from the LPR Leonid Pasechnik the appeals of the Public Chambers, suggesting that he combine the efforts of administrations and parliamentary apparatuses to develop steps to begin preparations for the referendum.

They also talked about law enforcement agencies’ joint elaboration of security issues. According to Pushilin, appeals about referendums have become a reflection of people’s opinion, which “has long been in the air.”

“I think, taking into account this, we, as in past years, over these eight years when the republics were born at one point when the republics held a referendum on the same day in the 14th year, we will also cope here, but our actions should be synchronous,” the head of the DPR emphasized.

In mid-February, Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republic leaders asked Russia to recognize their independence.

Vladimir Putin On February 21, he signed the relevant decrees.

Both republics have announced plans to become part of Russia. Later, a similar desire was announced in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

As reported by RIA Novosti Secretary of the General Council, “United Russia” Andrey Turchak, the liberated territories of the LPR and DPR and the Kherson region will be included in the composition of Russia.

The same goes for the Zaporizhzhia region, where a referendum should be held as soon as the situation allows.
