Foreigner Arrested Trying to Board Flight to Portugal With Three Kilos of Cocaine

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Federal Police arrested a Latvian man carrying three kilos of cocaine, trying to board a flight to Portugal, with Paris as his final destination, on Saturday night, June 29th, at the Salgado Filho International Airport, in Porto Alegre.

According to the Federal Police, the 47-year-old foreigner was caught trying to get into the airport’s departure lounge. The drugs were carried in his personal luggage.

He was taken to the Federal Police headquarters and arrested in the act for international drug trafficking.

The Federal Police reported that communication with the prisoner was only made possible with the assistance of a federal police officer fluent in Russian.
