Covid-19 Has Killed 57,000 People in Brazil Since March (June 27th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Covid-19 has caused the death of 1,109 people in the past 24 hours in Brazil. As a result, the total number of deaths since March from the novel coronavirus disease has reached 57,070, according to data announced by the Ministry of Health and available on its website.

According to the update, at 6:45 PM on Saturday, June 27th, another 38,693 cases of infection with the novel coronavirus were confirmed. With yesterday’s numbers, Brazil counts 1,313,667 confirmed infections. According to the Ministry of Health, 715,905 patients have recovered health after treatment.

The incidence of the disease is currently 625.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and the lethality rate stands at 4.3 percent of infections.

The Southeast Region records the highest number of cases of Covid-19 infection (447,548), followed by the Northeast (432,704); North (246,861), Midwest (82,128) and South (65,733).

The state of São Paulo, the most populous and with the highest number of infections, recorded 9,921 more cases in the past 24 hours, totaling 258,508 cases since the start of the pandemic. To date, 13,966 deaths have been recorded in the state – 207 in the last 24 hours.
