Brazilian Actress Lady Francisco Dies in Rio de Janeiro at the Age of 84

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Oscar Francisco, son of Lady Francisco, confirmed that the actress has died at the age of 84, in Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday, 25th. “Unfortunately, mom died at 1 PM. Heaven has received another big star”, he said.

Lady had been hospitalized at the Unimed Barra Hospital, in the city’s western zone. Her health had taken a turn for the worse on Friday night, 24th.

She had been admitted in late April after breaking her femur during a walk with her two dogs, in Guinle Park where she lived. She underwent surgery but, due to post-op complications, needed to be intubated, sedated, and then submitted to a tracheostomy.

The vigil will be held this Sunday in the Fernanda Montenegro room at Teatro Leblon, where Lady had played the part of Cruella Cruel for 8 years in the show “The Dalmatians”.

The actress’ last role on television was in 2018, on the soap opera “Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras” where she played the character of Lorraine.

The remains will be cremated at the “Crematório e Cemitério da Penitência” on Monday, 27th, and the ceremony will be reserved for close family and friends.

Lady Francisco (Lady Chuquer Volla Borelli de Bourbon) was one of the most famous film and television stars in the country.

She began her artistic career in the capital city of Minas Gerais, with appearances on radio and TV Itacolomi. In 1972, she moved to Rio de Janeiro where she made her television and film debuts. The actress’ first soap opera on Tupi was “Jerônimo – o Herói do Sertão,” in 1972.
