A Single Minute of Anger Leads to Six Hours of Physical Damage

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Perhaps you are not aware of this, but it only takes a minute of anger for us to spend six hours recovering the damage caused to our body.

Then one should think: one must swallow one’s anger. No. Both in the case of letting anger out and holding it in, the effect of one minute in six hours is the same.

We need to understand ourselves well so that we know what makes us lose our temper and reduce stress situations as much as possible.

What we need is to learn how to develop habits that better balance our reactions to events and to understand ourselves well so that we know what makes us lose our temper, what hurts us… With this knowledge, we can change our reactions, seeking exercises that strengthen our nervous system, cultivating new circuits that provide us with greater harmony and health.

Some tips:

As our brain does not distinguish between real and imaginary, while we are feeling some negative emotion on the rise, feeling unwell, let us recall very positive events and moments in our lives. The brain interprets that they are happening again and conveys all the good brain chemistry of the moments in the past to the present.

According to neuroscientist Rick Hanson, only 12 seconds of contemplation of something beautiful is enough to bring us a sense of well-being.

We should reduce stress situations as much as possible. Planning and prevention are very helpful.

Exercise positive emotions, such as empathy, kindness, love, compassion, optimism, cultivating a garden filled with flowers in one’s brain and that of people around us. By not nurturing fear, complaint, anger, negativity, etc., we prevent weeds from taking over this garden.

Live the present fully. The past usually comes laden with guilt and the future brings anxiety, worry. Using the past for review is important to have a better future.

Our lives are just like nature, which preserves different cycles, seasons. When we learn to understand and respect this within ourselves, not through a submissive acceptance, but as an attitude that generates tangible results, everything changes in and around us.

We are going to turn off the light on our stage, and it is very important that, as we look back, we are proud of our journey. We can be empathic, kind, extremely supportive, but never forget that the most important person in our life is ourselves.
