Venezuela and North Korea strengthen their communication cooperation

Venezuela and North Korea have reinforced their commitment to enhancing communication between the two nations.

The Foreign Ministry of Venezuela released an official statement on Saturday (8) confirming this development.

A meeting took place in Caracas, Venezuela, between Mercedes Chacín, Vice Minister for International Communication at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, and Ri Yong-gil, the North Korean ambassador.

Following the meeting, the Venezuelan ministry announced that both countries have agreed to foster a cooperative relationship in the field of communication.

Chacín emphasized that the representatives aimed to discuss communication-related matters and the protection of sovereignty within their respective territories.

The deputy minister highlighted their agreement to disseminate truthful information to defend their territories, sovereignty, and multipolarity.

This recent development builds upon the previous reaffirmation of shared principles between Venezuela and North Korea.

In March, during a meeting between Venezuela’s foreign minister, Yván Gil, and the North Korean ambassador, both countries expressed their support for the right to self-determination and sovereignty.

Furthermore, in May, the North Korean ambassador and Tatiana Pugh, Venezuela’s deputy minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, pledged to strengthen political ties between their respective nations.

Diplomatic relations between North Korea and Venezuela were established in 1965, with Venezuela recognizing North Korea as a sovereign state nine years later.
