Paraguay’s “priority” is for its meat to enter the US market

The Paraguayan government has among its main objectives that its meat can enter the US market, said the head of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency, Hernán Huttemann.

“This process is already in the scope and the hands of the US Government. We expressed to the ambassador the importance and the priority that the opening of this market represents for this government”, said the official in a press conference, according to the state-owned Paraguayan Information Agency.

On March 14, President Mario Abdo Benítez and the US ambassador in Asunción, Marc Ostfield, held a meeting.

Hartmann explained that the “main issue that took the most time” during the meeting was the authorization to sell Paraguayan meat to the US.

Foreign Minister Julio Arriola said he was confident the authorization would be granted soon.

Abdo Benitez will travel on March 29, 30, and 31 to the city of Tampa (southwestern US) to visit a military base of special operations of the Armed Forces of the North American country.

The Chancellor pointed out that the reason for the visit is because Paraguay has a “fairly close defense cooperation with the US”.
