Construction in Argentina grows 22.7% year-on-year in August

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The construction activity in Argentina registered this August a 22.7% increase compared to the same month of 2020, informed this Thursday the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).

The official data for August marks the tenth month of positive year-on-year construction activity growth since November last year, after the sector suffered a severe slump this year due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

However, according to Indec, the level of activity in the sector recorded a 2.6% drop in August compared to last July.

In the first eight months of the year, construction activity accumulated an increase of 48.1%.

On the other hand, according to data released on Thursday, jobs in this segment increased by 20.7% year-on-year in July, up to 372,557.

In 2020, construction activity in Argentina had plummeted by 19.5%.
