Argentina’s mining exports register highest level in 10 years in 2022

Argentina’s mining exports totaled US$3.857 billion in 2022, the highest level since 2012, the Mining Secretariat attached to the Ministry of Economy.

Mining dispatches increased during the past year by 19 percent over 2021 and represented 4.4 percent of Argentina’s total exports.

In the accumulated 2022, metalliferous minerals totaled exports for US$3.02 billion and accounted for 78 percent of shipments.

The secretariat added that gold (56 percent of shipments) and silver (21 percent) had outstanding participation.

Other metalliferous minerals resulted in foreign sales of US$59 million, accounting for 2 percent of total exports.

Regarding lithium, exports reached 696 million dollars, registering a 234 percent year-on-year growth and accounting for 18 percent of total shipments.

In terms of lithium exports, year-to-date exports increased by 5.2 percent.

According to government sources, the main export destinations of Argentine minerals were the United States, Switzerland, India, Canada, and China.
