RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The figures indicate a decrease compared to Saturday’s reported positives, with 11,136 cases.

In the province of Buenos Aires 1,663 cases were reported on Sunday, while 1,046 positive cases were registered in the central province of Cordoba, 582 in Santa Fe (center) and 545 in the Argentine capital.

According to the official report, 4.49 million patients have already been discharged, while the number of people with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 who remain in intensive care units on Sunday stood at 4,219, down from a record 7,969 on June 14.

Intensive care bed occupancy rate for all types of pathologies stands at 57% nationwide and 54.4% if only Buenos Aires and its populous periphery are considered.

So far, 18.85 million tests have been performed in Argentina to detect the virus, 57,623 on Sunday.

In April and May, Argentina experienced a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases, with a very high level of bed occupancy in intensive care units, but the upward curve of infections began to slow down in June, after the enforcement of new health restrictions.

While trying to emerge from the second wave of Covid-19, Argentina, with some 45 million inhabitants, continues with its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus launched in late December last year.

Official data released on Sunday indicate that so far 29.7 million doses have been administered.

A total of 23.7 million people have been vaccinated with the first dose while almost 6 million people have now been inoculated with the second dose.
