The Angola Startup Summit 2023 takes place this month

The Angola Startup Summit 2023 will be held from April 27 to 29 at Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologias e Ciências (ISPTEC), in Luanda, in an initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Planning.

Under the slogan ‘Innovation and technology as a vector for the immersion of startups in Angola,’ the event aims to maintain and encourage the emergence of new startups by exchanging experiences, conducting business, and cooperation with universities, potential investors, accelerators, and incubators.

During the usual bi-weekly briefing, the national director for Economy and Business Development, Nédio dos Santos, announced that the fair would bring two novelties.

“These are two special prizes.”

“In the first, the nearly 200 participants, including national and foreign, will be challenged to find a technological solution to the parking problem in Luanda.”

“The second novelty challenges entrepreneurs to create a solution that allows, via a QR code, restaurant customers to access the menu, select the dish of your choice, and make the respective payment,” he explained.

According to Nédio dos Santos, the prizes of this edition are evaluated at US$19,600, with the possibility of obtaining an investment from the Fundo Activo de Capital de Risco de Angola (FACRA).

These awards, he added, do not invalidate the organization’s distinctions that count with different categories and with the “great Okavango Award, inspired by the majestic river that bathes southeastern Angola, made of curves that represent the water’s ability to circumvent its obstacles along its path, as well as cross the national border,” in an analogy to the projects of Angolan entrepreneurs, who must be resilient to difficulties to reach foreign markets.
