Macau hotels to close 2022 with second worst occupancy rate ever

The hotel occupancy rate in Macau was 38.4% last year, the second lowest in more than two decades, and 11.7 percentage points lower than in 2021, it was announced today.

According to official data dating back to 1997, the worst year for the territory's hotels was 2020, at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, with an occupancy rate of 28.6%, due to the ban that for several months China imposed on travel . . .
