Investigation underway into alleged bogus salary payments in Angola’s National Assembly

The Ministry of Interior in Angola has initiated an investigation into claims of bogus salary payments linked to security and protocol personnel within the National Assembly.

The parliamentary body released a statement confirming it had been made aware of these allegations and had passed them on to the relevant authorities for further examination.

The allegations, originating from an anonymous complaint on social media, suggest that over 300 individuals not associated with the Parliamentary Protection Unit and Honor Guard Unit (UPP/UGH) have received monthly salaries and allowances from the National Assembly.

While the UPP/UGH is an external entity to the National Assembly, due to the serious nature of the allegations, which potentially involve criminal activity, the case has been forwarded to both the Military House of the President of the Republic and the Office of the Minister of the Interior.

Their task is establishing the facts and applying appropriate legal measures, as the statement indicates.
