Cape Verde’s state revenues up in January 

The revenues of the Cape Verdean state increased 58.9% in January, year-on-year, to more than €38.9 million, according to the summary report of the budget execution.

According to the document, this performance results from increased tax collection (53.8% compared to the same month in 2022) and donations received.

In the report, provisional, the Ministry of Finance of Cape Verde also said that total expenditures in January increased 10.3% compared to a year earlier, to €37.5 million.

The Cape Verdean state thus collected in January 6.7% of the €582 million of revenues budgeted for the whole year by the government.

In revenues, the Personal Income Tax (IRPS) fell 0.1% in January to €3.6 million, while the Corporate Profit Tax (IRPC) increased, also in homologous terms, 41.4% to almost €467,000.

In indirect taxes, the Value Added Tax (VAT) continues to recover from the falls caused by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the drop in tourism, having earned in January over €14.3 million, increasing by 56.3% year-on-year.

The Finance Ministry document also refers to total expenses from January to December increasing by 5.4%, compared to the 12 months of 2021, to over €605 million, advanced Lusa.
