“I wanted to tell you that at the end of today, after presenting a fever of 37.3 and a slight headache, I took an antigen test whose result was positive,” the president wrote on his Twitter account early Saturday morning.

“Although we are waiting for the confirmation through the PCR test, I am already isolated, complying with the current protocol and following the indications of my personal doctor,” remarked Fernandez, who on January 21 received the first dose of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine and was inoculated with the second dose on February 11.

“I have contacted the people I have been meeting within the last 48 hours to evaluate whether they constitute a close contact for them to make the isolation,” Fernandez said.

Argentina is facing a second wave of coronavirus with a sustained escalation of contagions. According to official data, the South American country of 44 million inhabitants has accumulated more than 2.3 million infections and 56,023 deaths due to Covid-19.
