RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The agreement between Brazil and Qatar, which ends the visa requirement for passport holders from both countries, was published in the Official Gazette today, January 14th.
The document was signed during the visit of President Jair Bolsonaro to Qatar last October during a ceremony at the Royal Palace in Doha, where the Brazilian president was welcomed by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al Thanil.
With the measure, Brazilian and Qatari citizens, with an ordinary passport valid for a minimum period of six months, can visit both countries, without the need for a visa, for tourism, transit, or business purposes.
The agreement provides that any party may suspend the exemption, in whole or in part, especially for reasons of public security or by reintroducing new visa requirements either from Brazil or Qatar.
“The decision on suspension shall be notified to the other Party no later than 30 days before its entry into force,” the document states.
