RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Author Olavo de Carvalho, a Bolsonarism guru, criticized actress Regina Duarte, who was appointed by President Bolsonaro to take over the Special Secretariat of Culture on his social media on Monday, March 2nd.
The criticism came after Carvalho learned about rumors, disclosed by Veja magazine and the Antagonista website, that Regina had pur together her team to take over as secretary of the portfolio, but with none of his followers as staff members.
“If Regina Duarte really wants to get rid of Olavo de Carvalho’s candidates, the main person she would need to pull out of the Ministry would be herself”, he wrote.
Shortly after the repercussions of his criticism of the actress, Carvalho posted a publication by Youtuber and former feminist Sara Winter that denied the information disclosed by the media and criticized the rumors.
“The version that Veja publishes of my note about Regina Duarte is the stuff of illiterate con artists. Instead of describing, they make things up and interpret them. This is what is sold today as journalism in Brazil. Pure fraud”, he wrote about a news article published by Veja on his criticism of Regina.
