Londrina in Paraná State Records More Recovered People Than Infected with Covid-19

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The number of people cured of the novel coronavirus has exceeded that of those infected in Londrina. According to data from the city government, so far the total number of patients infected in Londrina is 68. Of these, 45 are cured of the disease.

Most of the cases are of people with mild symptoms or who have undergone home isolation. Despite the positive numbers, the city government is maintaining isolation measures in the city at least until April 20th to prevent an increase in cases.

Londrina also has nine people hospitalized by Covid-19 and ten people in home isolation. The hospitalized people are kept in private hospitals and in the University Hospital, a leading institution in the north of Paraná for the treatment of coronavirus.

In relation to deaths, the city has confirmed four. The last death was recorded on Saturday, April 11th, an elderly woman age 95 with a history of health issues.

Londrina is a city located in the north of the state of Paraná. It is the second largest city in the state and fourth largest in the southern region of the country, with 543,003 inhabitants in the city proper, and 818,300 in the metropolitan area.

Londrina was originally explored by British settlers, and then officially established in 1930 by a small group of Italian, Japanese and German settlers. It rapidly became the commercial, political, and cultural centre of the state’s northern pioneer zone. Its universities include the State University of Londrina and the Federal Technological University of Paraná.
