Lula affirms that his government will make greater efforts for economic growth

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, affirmed yesterday that his government would make greater efforts to grow the national economy as of next April 10, the 100th day since his inauguration.

“Starting next Monday, when we present what was done in these first 100 days, we will begin with another phase of our government, which is to make the economy grow again,” Lula said Thursday in a meeting with the press.

“My obsession now will be economic growth and the generation of jobs, and I am sure that we will achieve it successfully,” said the Brazilian president, who positively assessed his first three months in office.

“I am more than satisfied with what we managed to project in these first 100 days, the resumption of all the social policies that were successful in this country,” he said, citing the return of the Bolsa Familia, the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) and the National School Feeding Program (PNAE).

“I am convinced that we are going to fix the country. I did not expect that we would be able to put the plane on the runway so quickly,” declared the Brazilian president in a tone of optimism.

According to Lula, the goal now, after this first stage, is to work on creating macroeconomic conditions to boost the country’s development with social inclusion, the attraction of investments, credit to companies, and the expected reindustrialization.

“When all the programs start to work, we will see a change in the pace of the Brazilian economy,” he assured.

“There is not much miracle; there is no invention. There is no magic in the economy. I consider three magical words in economics: stability, credibility, and predictability.

If we establish the functioning of these three words, the economy will grow again as in the period when I was President of the Republic (2003-2010)”, he concluded.
