Brazil’s New Daily Record: 800 Deaths and 15,927 Infections by Covid-19 (April 8th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus reached 800 in Brazil, according to data released yesterday, April 8th, by the Ministry of Health. The result marks a 20 percent increase in relation to Tuesday, when 667 deaths were recorded.

São Paulo concentrates the highest number of people killed by complications of the disease, with 428. The state is followed by Rio de Janeiro (106), Pernambuco (46), Ceará (43) and Amazonas (30).

In addition, deaths were recorded in Paraná (17), Santa Catarina (15), Bahia (15), Minas Gerais (14), Federal District (12), Rio Grande do Norte (11), Maranhão (11), Rio Grande do Sul (9), Goiás (7), Espírito Santo (6), Pará (6), Piauí (5), Paraíba (4), Sergipe (4), Alagoas (2), Mato Grosso do Sul (2), Amapá (2), Acre (2), Rondônia (1), Roraima (1) and Mato Grosso (1).

The number of patients infected with the novel coronavirus reached 15,927, according to the Ministry of Health. The result represents a 16 percent increase in relation to Tuesday when the data showed 13,717 infections.

The country’s mortality rate has increased from 4.4 to 5 percent between Monday, April 6th and yesterday, April 8th.
