Brazil’s Government Releases R$5 Billion to Finance Tourism Infrastructure

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The federal government released R$5 billion (US$872 million) in “Official Credit Operations” to finance the national tourism infrastructure.

The release of this extraordinary line of credit is included in Provisional Measure 963/2020, published in the Federal Gazette (DOU) on Friday, May 8th.

The measure states that the application of funds is linked to the so-called ‘Hora do Turismo’ (Tourism Time) Program, of the Ministry of Tourism, and that the amounts are under the oversight of the General Tourism Fund (FUNGETUR).
