Brazilian Jazz Band Wins Instrumental Music Award in NYC

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Gypsy Jazz Club band from Brasília won at the Independent Music Awards last Sunday, June 23rd.

The Award’s 17th edition elected “Menestrel”, the quartet’s album, as the Best Instrumental Album of 2018. The event, focused on independent artists, celebrates not only music but also video, photography, and design.

Made up of Brazilian musicians Victor Angeleas (tenor guitar and 10-string mandolin), Pedro Vasconcellos (cavaquinho), Eduardo Souza (manouche guitar), and Igor Diniz (acoustic bass), the Gypsy Jazz Club mixes “manouche-style” jazz invented in France — which can be literally translated as “gypsy jazz” — and Brazilian music, from which the influence and musical experience of its members derive.
