Brazil Records 36,500 Coronavirus Cases and 2,300 Deaths (April 18th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health released yesterday, April 18th, new figures on the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country. According to a daily assessment conducted by the portfolio, Brazil counts 36,599 confirmed cases of the disease and 2,352 deaths have been recorded. The mortality rate stands at 6.4 percent.

The Ministry recorded 2,917 new cases and 211 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The number of recovered patients has not been updated and remains at 14,026, which represents approximately 50 percent of those infected. The latest data on people cured was released on Wednesday, April 15th.

The Southeast Region records 55.9 percent (20,466) of confirmed cases of the disease. Then come the Northeast (8,507), North, (3,416), South (2,738) and Midwest (1472) regions.
