Brazil Records 166 New Deaths from Covid-19, Total Climbs to 2,741 (April 21st)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has recorded 166 new deaths from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, an increase of 6.4 percent, according to data from the Ministry of Health released on Tuesday, April 21st.

In total, there are 2,741 deaths by Covid-19 in the country. The portfolio also reports 43,079 confirmed cases of the disease. The preceding day, the country exceeded 40,000 cases. The number doubled in just nine days.

The ministry, however, has admitted that the actual number of cases tends to be higher, as only patients in hospitals are tested and there is a backlog awaiting confirmation.
