Brazil projects a grain production of 310.6 million tons in the 2022-2023 agricultural cycle, which implies an increase of 38.2 million tons compared to the previous period, the state-owned National Supply Company (Conab) released yesterday, Wednesday.

As for soybean, the main export product of Brazilian agriculture, the planting period has almost concluded, so in several regions of the country, the harvest has begun.

Conab estimated that oilseed production would reach 152.9 million tons in 2022-2023.

Regarding corn, the estimate is that the area planted and the grain production will increase, translating into a first harvest of 26.5 million tons and a second harvest of 95 million tons.

The president of Conab, Guilherme Ribeiro, stated that “the beginning of the corn and soybean harvest in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (south) confirms the forecasts of a strong fall” due to the scarcity of rains.

At the same time, in the center-west region, the crops have benefited from “favorable” weather.

In the case of beans, the first harvest compensated for a smaller cultivated area, while the production of the three types of the legume sown is estimated at 994,200 tons.

As for rice, Conab estimates that production will reach 10.2 million tons, while wheat projects 10.6 million tons in the 2022-2023 agricultural cycle.
