Brazil confirms Copa America to be held in at least four venues

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian government confirmed this Tuesday, June 1, the hosting of the Copa América soccer tournament and advised that the tournament will have at least four venues, after Argentina and Colombia withdrew from organizing it.

The Copa América matches, which are expected to start on June 13, will be played in the states of Mato Grosso (Cuiabá),  Rio de Janeiro, and Goiás (Goiânia), as well as in Brasília, according to the Chief of Staff Luiz Ramos.

“Copa América in Brazil confirmed. Consistency has won! The flag of Brazil that hosts the Libertadores, Sudamericana matches, not to mention the regional and Brazilian championships, could not turn its back on a traditional championship like this one,” the minister said on Twitter.
