Time Management, Keeping it Short

Editorial

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This week I need to keep the Editorial short as it will be a long day. With our new Print Edition schedule, we need to be ready to go to press by Friday, so the copies are ready on Thursday (June 30th.) Usually it is not such a push to prepare, but in this age of the interweb ™ – our designer is working from New Zealand, which means not only do we not get to sit in the same room, but there is a major time difference to work around.

Stone Korshak, Editor and Publisher of The Rio Times.

So please forgive the “phone in”, but here are some highlights of this week’s Online edition. The Oil proceeds debate has come back and the stakes could not be higher for Rio. The Brasil Offshore event in Macae was also big news, as one of the largest events of it’s kind in the world.

On another front, the reclassification of some favelas is starting, and although there is still a long ways to go, the implications are huge. Also this week we’ve written about phase two of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (My Home, My Life) program, the continuation of the massive program aimed at raising the standard of living for many Brazilian citizens.

We have also highlighted some Entertainment events, the big one – although not open to the public – is the UK Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Nick Clegg in Rio for a celebration of the Queen’s Birthday at the UK Consulate on Wednesday (June 22nd). For this I may go full suit, something I haven’t done in several years. There is also a great Brazilian musician The Rio Times had an exclusive interview with – Nina Becker – and we certainly recommend getting out to see her show.

Now if you will excuse me I need to start working on the Print edition. Oh, by the way, here are our prices for any Print Advertising you may be interested in:
