The tickets start being sold in August this year, but there are no price estimates yet.

On the same date, a direct flight by British Airways, which also operates the route, has tickets that start at US$677 in Economy class, US$ 1,567 in Premium Economy, and US$ 5,657 in Business class.

The announcement was made on the company’s social networks.

On LinkedIn and Instagram, the company published a short version of an advertisement starring Brazilian actress Juliana Paes.

Dressed in a Carnival costume, the actress dances with passengers and flight attendants, dancers AJ Pritchard and Anton Du Beke.

Virgin Atlantic said it was “excited to fly to São Paulo, Brazil, home of Carnival, caipirinhas, beaches, beautiful natural wonders, and rich architectural history.”

DIRECT COMPETITION

With the new route, Virgin Atlantic will compete with British Airlines – one of its main competitors in the UK – and Latam.

In the case of Latam, the trip between Guarulhos (SP) and London is made with Boeing 777-300ER airplanes and takes 11hrs15min – similar time to British Airlines flights, which uses Airbus A350-1000 aircraft and makes the trip in approximately 11hrs10min.
