Bolivia and Petrobras consolidate exploration and exploitation agreements

Bolivian President Luis Arce and executives of Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) met this Tuesday to consolidate agreements aimed at exploration, exploitation, gas sales, and other projects of common interest.

Arce commented that the meeting held this day was at Petrobras’ request, taking advantage of the fact that he was in Brazil for the summit of presidents of the South American region organized by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

“We met with its main executives in response to Petrobras’ request. We coordinated their visit to Bolivia in the coming months to continue consolidating important agreements for exploration, exploitation, gas sales, and other projects of common interest”, he communicated in his networks after this meeting.

In 1999, Bolivia and Brazil signed a natural gas export agreement and experienced several addenda. Argentina and Brazil are the main markets for Bolivian natural gas.

Between January and December 2022, an average volume of 16.79 million cubic meters per day (MMmcd) was shipped to Brazil under current contractual conditions with Petrobras and other customers in the neighboring country, such as MTGAS, Ambar, and Tradener.

The GSA (Gas Supply Agreement) signed with Petrobras is the most important natural gas purchase and sale contract.
