Goods exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rose 78.6% in the first four months of this year compared to the same period in 2022.
The value exported by Portuguese-speaking countries to the Macanese territory stood at €58.9 million between January and April, according to Macau’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).
Most exports were from Brazil, worth €48.4 million, mainly meat, fish, and seafood.
Macau also bought goods worth €10.1 million from Portugal, including clothing and accessories, alcoholic beverages, and electrical appliances.
According to official data, in the first four months of the year, the bloc of Portuguese-speaking countries bought goods worth about €12,400 from Macau, 86.7% less than in the same period of 2022.
Between January and April, Macau’s exports of goods were €463.7 million, down 20.9% compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods was €5.47 billion, down 7.8% year-on-year, the DSEC said.
